Why we need more neurodiversity trainers

Across every sector, more organisations are beginning to understand something vital: neurodiversity isn’t a buzzword, it’s a fact of life.

Roughly 1 in 5 people are neurodivergent (although that is believed to be a conservative figure) this means neurodivergent people’s brains process, learn or communicate differently. Yet most workplaces still run on neurotypical assumptions, from how we communicate and collaborate to how performance is measured.

That gap can lead to misunderstandings, missed opportunities and too often, burnout. I know this first hand. Yet we need neurodivergent employees as they bring creativity, innovation and fresh perspectives. But the challenge is that without understanding and inclusion, many are left feeling excluded or misunderstood.

That’s why credible, compassionate neurodiversity training is needed more than ever. Having run Perfecrtly Autistic for over 5 years now, we know how great the demand for GOOD neurodiversity training is.

What makes GOOD neurodiversity training different

Done right, neurodiversity training helps people understand the wide range of human minds and how small adjustments can unlock big potential. It gives managers practical strategies to support staff and colleagues the empathy to communicate more effectively.

But there’s a growing challenge, the demand for authentic, lived-experience-led training is rising rapidly and there simply aren’t enough qualified people to deliver it. It’s not good enough to say ‘I read about neurodiversity in a book’. It has to be a genuine and authentic passion.

That’s where Perfectly Autistic™ Academy comes in.

Perfectly Autistic™ Academy

Since we launched we’ve trained tens of thousands of people (no exaggeration), from retail teams and line managers to senior leaders at Red Bull Racing, TUI, NHS and so many more!

And one thing we hear time and time again is:

“I’d love to do what you do - but I don’t know where to start.”

So we created the Perfectly Autistic™ Academy.

It is a 6-week live and interactive course that teaches you how to design and deliver impactful, credible neurodiversity awareness training.

Each week includes interactive sessions, real-world examples and group discussions designed to help you learn, practise and grow. It’s taught by us me Kelly (diagnosed autistic and ADHD in my forties) and Hester (diagnosed with ADHD at 44.)

Who the Academy is for

The Academy is open to anyone who wants to create positive change and help others understand neurodiversity or through independent training.

It’s ideal for:

  • Coaches, consultants or trainers who want to add neurodiversity awareness to their services

  • HR, DE&I or wellbeing professionals embedding inclusion in their organisation

  • Lived-experience advocates who want to share their story professionally

  • Anyone passionate about inclusion and ready to take the next step

You don’t need formal qualifications - just enthusiasm, empathy and a genuine drive to make a difference.

What you’ll learn

During the six weeks, you’ll learn how to:

  • Understand the foundations of neurodiversity and workplace inclusion

  • Design and deliver engaging, interactive workshops

  • Use storytelling to connect with different audiences

  • Market yourself and find opportunities to deliver training

  • Adapt your approach for different audiences and environments

  • Manage your own energy, regulation and wellbeing as a trainer

By the end, you’ll feel confident, credible and ready to run your own sessions.

Why this matters

We believe real change happens when awareness meets action. Every new trainer who completes the Academy becomes part of a growing movement, one that’s challenging stereotypes, shifting culture and creating workplaces where neurodivergent people can thrive.

This isn’t just about training. It’s about empowerment, understanding and lasting impact, helping people see that inclusion starts with awareness, but doesn’t end there.
